Ocala FedEx Ground Hub

The Ocala FedEx Ground Hub site occupies 150 acres and the main structure footprint is 380,000 SF. Due to the highly variable geologic conditions, GEC implemented an extensive Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) study as part of the geotechnical engineering investigation for the design and construction of the FedEx facilities. The GPR study, in conjunction with the geotechnical soil borings, provided a cost-effective and time-efficient method to map out potential problematic soil conditions within the building footprints. GEC provided foundation design recommendations to mitigate the risk of future sinkhole activity for the mission-critical structure. GEC also designed and monitored the remedial activities for numerous sinkholes that formed in pond and pavement areas during construction.
